There’s a new citizenship test coming, but maybe not the one you expected

If you saw that scary list of questions that the Trump Administration had proposed as the new citizenship test, don’t worry, that’s one’s not going to happen.

But yes, there will be a new set of citizenship questions next year and we found out what’s coming.

The USCIS (yes, the government) hosted a workshop for organizations like ours that help refugees and immigrants, and we learned a LOT about their future plans.

The officials told us there will be a new set of Civics and History Questions beginning in the middle of 2024. The questions will be multiple choice.  They showed us a couple of examples, but they won’t let us see the complete list of new questions yet because they’re still working on them.

The officials promised the new questions are as that difficult as the ones proposed by the Trump Administration in 2020, and the answers are more accurate.

The USCF will stay on top of this, and we will tell you the new list of Civics and History Questions as soon as they are released. And our tutors will be thoroughly trained on the new citizenship interview questions before they go into effect. Follow us on yourcitizenship.org/blog

USCF’s online Citizenship Interview Preparation Classes are always free. Get in touch with us if you’d like to take a citizenship class or if you’d like to volunteer as a tutor teaching refugees.
